Formulate Hair Care Routine

As fashionable and into makeup as I am, my hair care routine was totally lacking. That's why I was so excited when Formulate reached out to me to try out their products.

Formulate is a hair care brand that engineers their products just for you. Basically, you take a quiz all about your hair, your current routine and what you are looking for in a shampoo/conditioner and they mix something up for you! How awesome is that? Also all of formulate shampoos and conditioners are sulfate free, paraben free, preservative free, and animal cruelty free. Which is really important to me. I want to know that what I'm using is good for my hair and for my body.

How the process works: you can go online or into their app to take the quiz. Once you submit the quiz the chemists get right to work creating your formula. I received my products about 2 weeks later to try so the turnaround time was really not bad.

The packaging was beautiful! I love the sleek design and that both products come with a pump! I love a good pump!

Inside the box you get a breakdown of all the ingredients in your products and it explains what each is good for. I wanted to focus on moisturizing my hair and repairing split ends so my products contained a ton of nourishing oils such as coconut oil, broccoli seed oil and Argan oil.

My Personal Review: My immediate thoughts when trying out the shampoo were that it smelled so AMAZING! When you take your quiz you can select what kind of scent you want for your products as well as how strong the scent is. I love my hair to smell amazing and I love orange and citrus scents so I chose Burgeon (blooming orange blossom) and strong for my choices. I'm not kidding when I tell you that this smelled fantastic. Even long after my hair was dry the scent carried with me!

Also I loved the way the product lathered. For some reason I correlate the bubbles when washing my hair as to how well it's cleaning. Most natural shampoos I've used in the past didn't really lather up when shampooing so even though it may have still been cleaning my hair, I didn't feel like it was doing a good job. This shampoo is NOT like that. It lathers up so nicely and my hair felt so nourished and clean afterwards.

The conditioner was the same way, it smelled amazing and left my hair feeling so soft after I rinsed.

After the shower I tend to let my hair air dry. Once my hair dried it felt super soft and nourished but honestly, kinda greasy. I did read in my instructions that it often takes a couple weeks for your scalp to adjust to all the oils and moisture in the products so it may leave your hair feeling greasier than normal. So I decided to wait it out a couple weeks to see if it improved.

Unfortunately it did not and my hair was so saturated with oils that I couldn't straighten my hair without it feeling sticky. Now don't get me wrong. When I wore my hair curly my hair and curls looked fantastic. It was bouncy and did not get frizzy or tangled easily. But, I LOVE to wear my hair straight so I contacted the company and they immediately went to the chemist and began corrections to my formula. Formulate promises if you do not love your first batch they will correct anything needed FREE OF CHARGE! They were so great through this whole process and they completely understood my wishes and wants.

It took only a week for my new order to come in (free of charge) and let me tell you they LISTENED!! They struck the nail on the head. This new product was everything I loved about the previous but my hair did not feel heavy with product and I can straighten my hair with ease. This company has been so easy to work with and it's been amazing to experience the consumer-chemist bond and how in control I felt with my products and what I was putting into my hair.

You guys are going to love this company I just know it! I love everything they stand for and have had such a fun experience trying their products. My hair care routine has completely changed and for the better.

Doesn't my hair look amazing? It feels refreshed and full of volume. I'm in LOVE!

The Toothbrush that Changed the Brushing Game

From the moment I opened the box to my new CariPRO ultrasonic electric toothbrush I new this was about to change my oral hygiene game. I wouldn't say my game was THAT off but, I definitely only had used the cheap-y toothbrushes that you got from the dentist prior to this. So, you can imagine how siked I was to now own a toothbrush with not only 1 but 5 speeds/brushing modes. Also this toothbrush is completely waterproof so all my in-shower tooth brushers can totally use this product safely!

Now that we talked about how starstruck I was by my toothbrush lets talk about the company. Smile Brilliant is a family owned company built by dental hygienists and dental professionals which I love, that started out by creating a way to whiten teeth easily from your home. They then transitioned into toothbrushes and other oral care products. I love a good one stop shop!

What I love about the toothbrush is:

1. It's not super bulky like other products on the market. I want a toothbrush that will fit nicely in my bathroom. I love the sleek design.

2. The battery lasts FOREVER! Well not forever, but the battery can last up to 30 uses before needing charged again. No more waiting for your toothbrush to charge when trying to get ready for the day.

3. It's super gentle. The toothbrush comes with two soft brush heads that feel amazing on your teeth. Now don't get me wrong. It's not too soft that it won't clean your teeth properly but its gentle enough for even the most sensitive teeth and gums.

4. The price point is great! Smile Brilliant managed to make a high quality toothbrush into something affordable for anyone. The price point for this toothbrush is literally half as much as other products on the market!

5. There's a 2 minute timer that pauses every 30 seconds indicating that its time to brush a different quadrant of your mouth. No more setting a timer or guessing if you've brushed long enough. The toothbrush does all the work for you and tells you when to switch sides! It's honestly fool proof (and I need all the help I can get.)
6. The 5 speeds on the brush! I'll explain them below!
-Mode 1 clean: standard mode for daily brushing
-Mode 2 White: the most powerful cleaning mode for removing surface stains, polishing and vigorous deep cleaning.
-Mode 3 Massage: Gentle gum pulsation mode for gum stimulation.
-Mode 4 Gum Care: Gum mode for gentle cleaning along the gumline. (for complete coverage use with another cleaning mode)
-Mode 5 Sensitive: Ideal for users who find the default clean mode to be slightly too aggressive. This gentle cleaning mode is tuned well for those who have sensitive teeth and gums.

Let's talk about my brushing history. Before the CariPRO I brushed with whatever toothbrush I received post-cleaning at my dentist office. It was nothing special. I didn't get to pick the softness of the head or what bells and whistles it had. It was generic and I was totally fine with that. Until I did some research. Brushing your teeth with an electric toothbrush has been proven to clean your teeth much better than a manual toothbrush. A recent study showed electronic toothbrush-ers also had less plaque buildup and a lower rate of gum disease. Honestly, what more could you want? After reading up I knew I needed to make the switch and am so thankful that Smile Brilliant reached out to me about trying their toothbrush!
